Zoo Cage Craft

Here is an easy craft to cage the animals!

Fold a sheet of heavy paper in half and cut a window out of one side.  Punch holes on the top and the bottom of the window.  Fill the cage with animal stickers then lace pipe cleaners in the top and bottom holes to make bars.  Done!

Zoo Cages and Keys Book

We found this printable book at Chit Chat and Small Talk to go along with the story Goodnight Gorilla.  I ended up laminating the pieces to make it a little sturdier.  She colored the animals and we put it all together. She loves unlocking the cages to let the animal out or feed them and locking them back up.  Cute idea!

Pretend Play: Zookeeper

For zoo week we had several opportunities to play zookeeper!

Use plastic animals, kitchen items, colored rice, dirt, rocks, etc. to make a zoo.

Make playdough zoo cages with popsicle sticks (wearing a safari always helps as well).

Not pictured: Make a zoo with stuffed animals and boxes.  Make sure to feed the animals!

Z for Zoo Activities and Worksheets

This week we worked on the letter Z and focused on a Zoo theme.  (More zoo craft posts coming).

Make a Z zebra and put it in the zoo.

Zebra worksheets found at Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Which one is different page from 3 Dinosaurs.

Zoo Beginning Sound Clip Cards from 2 Teaching Mommies.

This Put Me in the Zoo page was fun to do while reading the book.  It is found at Making Learning Fun.
