Pretend Play: Zookeeper

For zoo week we had several opportunities to play zookeeper!

Use plastic animals, kitchen items, colored rice, dirt, rocks, etc. to make a zoo.

Make playdough zoo cages with popsicle sticks (wearing a safari always helps as well).

Not pictured: Make a zoo with stuffed animals and boxes. Make sure to feed the animals!

What We Do

I am a stay at home mom who loved to play school as a girl. Now that I have children I get to keep playing school. My activities are directed at children ages 2-4 and are inspired my many other mom's postings online. We have one structured day a week with a friend to focus on a letter of the alphabet. Throughout the week I offer crafts, games and activities based around our theme. We do these when we have free time and need something to do (in the mornings before getting dressed, in the afternoon after naps, while making dinner, etc.). Each week I prepare a binder of worksheets, games and prepared crafts for easy access. I let my daughter dictate her schedule and this allows her to choose the activity of the day (sometimes with my suggestion). This blog allows me to keep track of all we do together.
